Terms of Service
Last updated: September 7, 2026
These terms cover the Orb website and your purchase and use of the Orb software. By using the site or the software you agree to these terms.
What Orb is
Orb is software you download and run on your own Windows computer. It is licensed, not sold. Your rights to use and modify it, and the things you may not do (resell, redistribute, publish it), are set out in the license included with the software (LICENSE.md), which is part of these terms.
Purchase and delivery
Orb is a one-time purchase, processed by Stripe. After payment you receive a download link and setup instructions by email, usually within minutes — check spam, and email support@orbassistant.com if it doesn't arrive. Each copy is watermarked with a license key tied to your account.
All sales final
Orb is a watermarked download delivered immediately after payment, so purchases can't be returned or refunded. If Orb will not run on a supported system (Windows 10 or 11), email support@orbassistant.com and we will help you get it running.
Running costs are yours
Orb uses paid third-party APIs on your own accounts (Anthropic is required; Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Google and others are optional). You are responsible for signing up, for your usage costs, for setting your own spending limits, and for complying with each provider's terms.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Orb to break the law, violate a third party's rights, send spam or abuse, or violate the terms of any connected service. Orb has built-in safeguards (it never moves money, a confirmation gate, a pause switch, a local audit log), but you are responsible for how you configure it and what you allow it to do.
Text message notifications (optional)
If you turn on Orb's SMS feature, you enter your own phone number into Orb's local configuration file on your own computer. Doing this is your opt-in — Orb will not text or call you until you complete this step.
Message frequency varies based on how you configure Orb (reminders, daily briefs, alerts). Message and data rates may apply. You can turn this off at any time from within the app or by replying STOP.
- Reply STOP, CANCEL, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, or END to stop messages at any time.
- Reply START, YES, or UNSTOP to turn messages back on.
- Reply HELP for help, or email support@orbassistant.com.
Example messages Orb may send you:
- "Orb: Your daily brief is ready — 3 emails need a reply, 2 items on your calendar today. Reply STOP to opt out."
- "Orb: Security alert — a sign-in to your Google account was detected from a new device. Reply if this wasn't you. Reply STOP to opt out."
This feature uses your own Twilio account and phone number; see the main Terms for how Orb's optional third-party services work.
No warranty
The software and site are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, lost profits, service costs, or actions the software takes on your instruction or configuration. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the software.
Changes
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date will change.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, USA.
