Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Orb is a voice-first personal assistant that you install and run on your own computer. This policy explains what data is involved when you use the Orb website (orbassistant.com) and the Orb software.
The short version
- Orb runs on your device. There is no Orb account and no Orb server that your assistant talks to.
- Orb connects to third-party services (Anthropic, Google, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, and others you choose to enable) using API keys and credentials that you provide and hold. Your data flows directly between your computer and those providers, not through us.
- We do not receive, store, or have access to your emails, calendar, files, notes, voice recordings, or anything else Orb handles on your device.
The website
The marketing site may collect basic, non-identifying analytics (pages viewed, approximate region, device type). It does not use tracking that identifies you personally. If you email us, we keep that correspondence to provide support.
We count visits with a simple anonymous counter: which page was opened, whether it was on a phone or computer, and which site sent you. No cookies, no IP addresses, nothing that identifies you.
Purchases
Payment is processed by Stripe. We receive your name, email, and the fact that a purchase was made, so we can deliver your download and provide support. We never see or store your full card number. Each copy of Orb is delivered with a license key tied to the purchasing account, so a shared or resold copy is traceable; we store your email and license key for this purpose and for support.
SMS and calling
If you enable Orb's SMS/calling feature, it sends text messages and places calls using your own Twilio account and phone number (Brand: Jack Herring), only to the phone number you configure it to use. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your own usage of the software. Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
The Orb software and your Google data
If you connect a Google account, Orb requests access to your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Drive so that it can — at your instruction — read and triage email, draft replies, manage calendar events, and read and write notes and documents. This access is used only to provide those features on your own device, at your request.
Orb's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in Orb; it is not transferred to others except as necessary to provide those features, to comply with law, or in a merger/acquisition with your consent; it is not used for advertising; and no humans read it unless you give explicit consent for a specific support issue, it is necessary for security, or it is required by law.
Because Orb runs locally, this data stays on your computer and moves only between your device and Google. You can revoke Orb's access at any time from your Google Account permissions.
Other connected services
Anthropic, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Telegram, and any other integrations you enable are used under your own accounts and keys, subject to each provider's own terms and privacy policy. We are not a party to that data flow.
Data retention
Website correspondence and purchase records are kept as long as needed for support and legal/tax obligations, then deleted. Everything else lives on your computer under your control; deleting the Orb folder removes it.
Your rights
You may ask us what purchase/support data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (where we are not required to keep it). Email support@orbassistant.com.
Children
Orb is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change.
